Meet Tiffany Barrans

We are delighted to share that, after much prayer and careful discernment, Tiffany Barrans has been appointed the new CEO of Open Doors UK and Ireland. She will start in the position on 7 September 2026, following Henrietta Blyth’s eight years as CEO.
Tiffany is joining the UK and Ireland office having worked for nine years as Director of Advocacy at Open Doors International, leading a team of advocates at international institutions and helping development offices and Open Doors supporters unite in speaking out about persecution to those in power around the world. She has worked closely with our field partners to mobilise the persecuted church, using grass roots advocacy as an opportunity for the church to be salt and light to those outside the Christian community. Most recently, she has helped spearhead the Arise Africa campaign, with a goal of awakening the world to acknowledge and act against the immense violence Christians endure in Sub-Saharan Africa. Globally, we aim to encourage tangible action by presenting a million signatures to the UN, EU, African Union and many local governments, including the UK government.
Tiffany’s long history of working in the wider Open Doors family to support and stand alongside the persecuted church is an excellent basis for leading Open Doors UK and Ireland into this new season.
Outside of Open Doors, Tiffany has worked as an international human rights barrister, defending Christians who were wrongfully imprisoned for their faith and advising governments on policies to address violations of religious freedom. She has served as an independent consultant for several international Christian charities helping to sharpen their communication and organisational strategies.
André Holtshausen, the Chairman of Trustees at Open Doors UK and Ireland, shares: “Tiffany’s passion for the persecuted church, depth of vision and Christ-centred leadership make her a truly wonderful gift to this team.”
Tiffany says: “As I join Open Doors UK and Ireland I get to stand on the strong foundation built by great leaders who have gone before me and faithful supporters who are committed to serving the persecuted church. I will certainly look to God’s ongoing guidance and wisdom as I take on this role. Please pray for me and the team as we continue to seek how best to serve and support the persecuted church – and join me in thanking Henrietta for her years of faithful service.”
Thank you to all who prayed during the recruitment process, and please continue praying for the whole UK and Ireland team as we move into a new season.
