Witness is a book which explores what it means to be a witness to Jesus, and how the way we live, and who we are, can point people to Him. In Witness, a new book and accompanying small group resource, you’ll be able to read stories of extraordinary encounters with the persecuted church, interwoven with thought-provoking biblical reflection. It’s a chance to really understand what Jesus meant in the Beatitudes, and what we can learn from our brothers and sisters who are still witnessing to the reality of those promises.
Jesus said that His disciples would be ‘brought before governors and kings as witnesses’ (Matthew 10:18) and these are people who live that out. Their willingness to share the truth about Jesus might cost them their freedom, their security, their homes, even their lives.
We can’t share their life. But we can share their faith. And, as we learn from their lives, and reflect on their faith, that will transform our own understanding of what it means to follow Jesus, and how we can communicate that to our world.
‘Witness is a powerful reminder of what bold faith looks like. Through the stories of the persecuted church, Eddie and Nick challenge us to live and share our faith with courage. Inspiring, humbling, and deeply moving—this book is a must-read!’ – West Midlands, Church Leader
‘Witness is a powerful book. From the opening lines, which speak of a mysterious lady in red and a secret prayer meeting, to the last sentences, the book is packed with power, saturated with sincerity, and drenched with the dew of Heaven. It challenges us, through the stories of our brothers and sisters, to remember that God is always worthy of our devotion, and nothing can stop us from serving Him except our own decision not to so. It demonstrates the deep power of discipleship and beckons us into the adventure of being witnesses for Christ, no matter what. There is only one Church, and we are part of it. Our persecuted sisters and brothers challenge us, but they also invite us to lives of witness and devotion in our day and our world.’ – Malcolm Duncan, Senior Pastor, Kensington Temple London City Church
