Over 14,000 families across India and Nepal reached with vital support thanks to you

Thank you so much for your continued prayers and gifts for our persecuted church family across India and Nepal. An Open Doors local partner in Nepal says, “I cannot explain how much you have impacted the lives of the Christians here. God bless you.”

As coronavirus continues to affect Asia, believers in India and Nepal are still last in line to receive government aid during the pandemic. But, thanks to your prayers and support, Open Doors local partners have delivered vital food aid to over 13,000 families in India, and 1,100 families in Nepal.

Nepalese believers receive aid

Thanks to you, Open Doors local partners are continuing to reach believers in Nepal

Rajan* is a village pastor who struggled for income after church services stopped due to lockdown restrictions. He didn't receive any help from his community or his family, who threw him out when he became a Christian. He has been beaten many times for sharing his faith in the surrounding villages. But thanks to you, he knows he is not alone. He says, “Due to this coronavirus lockdown, no church service could take place, leaving us in a difficult situation… We are so thankful for the provision by your organisation. Thank you so much.”

"We feel blessed to reach out to the needy people and to see their happy faces. We give glory and honour to our compassionate God" Open Doors partner in Nepal

Shikha* and her family have also received aid, thanks to you. Her husband works in an electronics shop, but his salary was delayed due to the pandemic, and they were struggling to feed their children. “For the past two months, we had no salaries,” Shikha says. “Your organisation has come to our aid and I give thanks for the help through you.”

The family faced persecution when their landlords would not lease the house to them unless they agreed not to pray in the house or conduct any Christian meetings.

Nepal: “Thank you for your faithful prayers!”

In Nepal, most Christians are left out of government relief distribution programmes, and many have been unable to work due to the lockdown and have struggled to survive. But thanks to your support and prayers, Open Doors local partners have been able to provide vital aid and encouragement to these families.

An Open Doors partner in Nepal has sent this message to all Open Doors supporters:

“Dear all, thank you so much for your faithful prayers! We came back after distributing relief items to almost 50 families in various remote villages of Nepal today. It took almost 10 hours from morning ‘til evening and the climate was warm and bright.

“Please pray for us as we aim for more difficult terrains in the coming weeks. It's monsoon season here and there are landsides and muddy roads everywhere. Roads are extremely difficult. But we feel blessed to reach out to the needy people and to see their happy faces. We give glory and honour to our compassionate God and for His provisions. We also extend our thanks to the people with the heart for Nepali Christians. I cannot explain how much you have impacted the lives of the Christians here. God bless you.”

Please pray
  • Praise God that, despite the risks and restrictions, aid is still getting through to believers in need. Pray that He will open up more opportunities for local partners to reach more Christians
  • For Rajan, Shikha and believers who are struggling financially, that their faith will remain strong and that God will provide everything they need
  • Incidents of violence against Christians in India have been increasing and the degree of violence they face is becoming more serious – please pray for God’s healing and protection.
Please give
  • Every £28 could provide and deliver emergency aid for two persecuted believers impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.
  • Every £56 could provide and deliver emergency aid for a family of persecuted believers impacted by the Covid-19 crisis.
