As the world reacts and responds to the unprecedented coronavirus pandemic, we too have an opportunity to act; let’s pray in solidarity with those on the front lines. That includes the NHS, those affected and their families - and also our nation's decision makers, having to act quickly and wisely.
Open Doors' Advocacy team works directly with civil servants, MPs and organisations that shape and directly influence UK politics. With your support, making sure MPs are aware of the pressing issues facing the persecuted church, there has been tremendous momentum with many parliamentarians listening and acting upon the plight of your persecuted family.
These parliamentarians are among those who are now under incredible pressure due to the coronavirus outbreak. As people of prayer and action, we want to show parliamentarians that we stand with them and with the most vulnerable in our global society, like our persecuted family. We;re asking Open Doors supporters to write a prayer, send it to Open Doors. We'll make sure the parliamentarians and decision makers know you are praying for them at this difficult time.
You can use these points as inspiration, but feel free to get creative - and ask God to guide you in your prayers
Take a photo of your prayer and send it to advocacy@opendoorsuk.org or post it on social media tagging @opendoorsuk with the hashtag #WeStandTogether. We'll gather your prayers and make sure they go to the right places and people.
Our persecuted family teach us that God is good regardless of the crises we face. We can learn from their example. Let’s be asking God what encouragements our parliamentarians need right now? What examples of courage and faith can we encourage and bless them with today? Do send us your prayer for parliamentarians by the end of May.
Lord, we lift up the UK Government and all decision makers in the UK and Ireland as they tackle the issue of freedom of religion or belief around the world. We ask that You would give them great wisdom and compassion, and that the advocacy from Open Doors supporters would land on listening ears and help our persecuted family.
Thousands of believers from countries across the Middle East, including Syria, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, have signed up to receive daily messages from Christians around the world - and you can write to them! Send encouragement today.
